The Reverend Monica A. Teal is a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  She serves as First Lady and as a member of the Ministerial Staff of the Jerusalem Baptist Church, where her husband, Rev. Rodney A. Teal, Esq., is the Senior Pastor.   Prior to joining her husband in his pastoral assignment, she served as an Associate Minister at the Mount Zion Baptist Church, Arlington, VA, where Dr. Leonard N. Smith is the Senior Minister.  Since April 2005, Rev. Teal has taught classes in Spiritual Formation, which seek to educate disciples in the basic spiritual disciplines of prayer, fasting, study and meditation, for their spiritual growth and transformation to the image of Christ.

Rev. Teal is a native of Chesapeake, West Virginia.  She is a graduate of The West Virginia Institute of Technology, having earned a B.S. in Accounting.  In April of 2004, Rev. Teal formally acknowledged that she had been called into the preaching ministry.  She was licensed as a Minister of the Gospel in May 2005 at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Alexandria, Virginia, under the pastoral leadership of  Dr. Harry J. Pilson, Sr.  Rev. Teal is an honors graduate of The Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia, having earned a Master of Divinity degree in May 2012.  She was ordained as a Minister of the Gospel by the Mount Zion Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Dr. Leonard N. Smith.   Rev. Teal is the Comptroller of the Baptist World Alliance.

Rev. Teal has a heart for individuals in the storms of life.  God has Called her to a ministry of helps. She stands as a vessel ready to be used by God to encourage the hurting people to know that God is always there.

Rev. Teal and her husband are the proud parents of four children (Elizabeth, James, Ann Marie and Michael) and the doting grandparents of one (LJ).  She and her family reside in Alexandria, Virginia.

Her favorite scripture is Hebrews 11:1:  “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.”
